 The Italian Teacher provides rich, differentiated learning experiences for students with a diversity of learning levels (beginner advanced). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Teaching students who are both native and non-native speakers of Italian; 
  • • Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and assessments; 
  • • Providing an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment; 
  • Meeting the needs, interests, and abilities for all students including students with disabilities, and ELL students 
  • Using a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences to enrich student learning 
  • Using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance creative problem-solving and evaluative thinking of students; 
  • Creating a learning environment that reflects the theme(s) being studied through displays of student work and teacher-created materials; 
  • Using effective, positive, and respectful interpersonal communication skills 
  • • Incorporating technology into instruction 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • • Bilingual Italian/English (strongly preferred); 

 

Desired Qualities 

  • • Excellent communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to engage the interest of elementary school-age children 
  • • Prior teaching experience in a public or private school 
  • • Demonstrated ability to work well with parents 
  • • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member 
  • Consistent reflection on her/his own teaching practices 
  • • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and eagerness to learn 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the well -being and success of all students. 
  • Work and plan well with co-teachers 

 

Experience: 

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred) 
  • • Education: Bachelor's; Masters (Preferred) 

 

License: 

· Possess or eligible fora valid New York State Foreign Language teacher certificate or License
