Study offers insight into language recognition

Researchers studying data from a global online guessing game of languages noted in a recent study that players confused languages that have geographic proximity and were more likely to correctly guess a language that is widely recognized. The team reviewed 115 million game guesses taken from 400 audio clips of 78 languages
