Promoting Italy’s culinary tradition abroad as one of the most distinctive features of Brand Italy. This is the aim of the ‘First Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’ initiative which will be presented this morning at Villa Madama. The event intends to provide continuity to the themes successfully developed by Expo Milano 2015 and to highlight the role played by the Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic network abroad in promoting Brand Italy.
The initiative will take place from 21 to 27 November in 105 Countries with an agenda of more than 1,300 events including contests, conferences, tastings, thematic dinners, exhibitions on culinary themes and technical and scientific workshops. The opening event in Washington on 15 November will be one of the highlights of the Week with Chef Bottura at the Residence of the Ambassador for an evening hosting the President of the Conference of Regions, Stefano Bonaccini
Today’s presentation event at Villa Madama will be moderated by Rai journalist Duilio Giammaria and it will be divided into two sessions. Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni will take the floor along with the Minister for Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies, Maurizio Martina, Undersecretary of State for Economic Development, Ivan Scalfarotto, the President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Stefano Bonaccini, the Director General of Rai, Antonio Campo Dall'Orto, and Cristina Bowerman, President of the Association of Italian Ambassadors of Taste.
The event will unfold according to a talk-show format, triggering a debate on the various initiatives of the ‘First Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’ highlighting the excellence of Italian production, the quality of Made in Italy products in the agrofood sector, integrated promotion and the role played by the Foreign Ministry, Italian institutions and public service TV broadcaster Rai.
