ITALICS Celebrates its10th Season of Italian Heritage and Culture Month Specials
In this special episode, Lucia Grillo interviews three women who hold significant positions within city institutions and cultural organizations: NOIAW Chair, Maria Tamburri, joins us in our studio. Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and of the State of New York, Janet Di Fiore, and Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, Maria T. Vullo, sit with Lucia at the Columbus Citizens Foundation townhouse. ITALICS steps onto the red carpet and march up New York City's 5th Avenue as we meet with dignitaries, honorees, and others at the 72nd Annual Columbus Day Parade.
The second woman to hold the position of Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and of the State of New York, Janet DiFiore was nominated by Governor Andrew Cuomo, confirmed by the New York State Senate in early 2016. In an in-depth conversation with Lucia Grillo, Chief Judge DiFiore talks of the responsibilities of her appointment and about various initiatives to which she is committed.
Nominated Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services by Governor Cuomo earlier this year, after more than twenty-five years of civil, criminal, and regulatory experience in the public and private sector, Maria T. Vullo - the first woman to hold this position - talks with correspondent Lucia Grillo.
Involved with the National Organization of Italian American Women since coming to New York in 2006, Maria Tamburri has held various positions within the organization. Now Chair, she took some time to speak with Lucia Grillo about NOIAW, its mission and activities.
