You are cordially invited to a Free Course for Professional Development at Saint Joseph’s University. The day will conclude with a brief organizational meeting to reestablish  a local chapter of theAATI.  I will present the results of the interest survey, distributed via Survey monkey, and the foundational work of the organization can begin.

The seminar is meant for university instructors interested in professional development, middle school or high school teachers of Italian, especially those interested in teaching AP courses, and college student interested in teaching Italian.  All expenses, including refreshments (breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks) are covered by generous grants from the Italian government and Saint Joseph's University.

This year’s course aims to foster projects that contribute to the success of AP courses in Italian and/or to the revision of the Italian curriculum in high school and college.
 
The day long intensive workshop will consist of presentations on teaching all levels of Italian, highlighting methods for creating cultural units from the elementary level on up, as well as units on how to incorporate grammar exercises in advanced, content-based courses.
 
It offers:
 
    Pedagogical tools for the organization and updating of Italian Language syllabi in Middle-High School and College
    Pedagogical perspectives on the ways to interconnect high school and college language curricula
     Examples of Curriculum Design and Students’ work
 
Each session will be subdivided into two modules: Lecture, that is, an overview of the chosen topic; and Workshop, that is, a practicum including activities, exercises, study plans etc.
