The presentation will focus on integrating museum resources in the Italian language and culture curriculum at intermediate and advanced levels. Through a step-by-step construction of well developed, dynamic, self-paced activities, I will demonstrate how enriching, innovative, and adaptable online museum resources can be in teaching both language and content-based courses. Alternative platforms of content delivery, such as Wikis and Google+ will be discussed.

The activity centers around Michelangelo’s David-Apollo recently shown1 at the National Gallery in Washington, DC, as part of the Year of the Italian Culture sponsored by the Italian Embassy. From applying to a grant, selecting, and integrating museum web resources, including articles, videos, and podcasts, to creating self-paced, competency-based, student-centered activities, I will illustrate this effective and rewarding approach to using web resources in our classrooms.  A discussion of assessing the learning goals as well as students’ feedback will ensue
