The Italian Program at the University of Denver is pleased to announce that Dr. Flavia Laviosa from Wellesley College will be the Anna Maglione-Sie Visiting Scholar where she will be the keynote speaker and hold an all-day workshop for language teachers on the HeArt of teaching on March 2nd and 3rd, 2017.  The workshop topics include: 
 
1.        Speaking: From Silent to Loud
2.        The Jazz of Teaching
3.        Teaching Songs: Listening in Action and Interactive Exploration of Culture
4.        Writing: Motion and Emotion Set to Text
5.        When Reading Comprehension Questions are Really Useful
6.        Film Viewing Comprehension
 
Dr. Flavia Laviosa is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Italian Studies and in the Cinema and Media Studies Program at Wellesley College. She is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies. As a foreign language educator, she is active as a certified ACTFL OPI and WPT trainer and tester. She also serves as the Director of the Foreign Language Faculty Seminar at Wellesley College and runs professional development programs for language instructors in the United States and Europe.
